The PS3 alphabet roller comes first. Prefer a letter grid or a text box? Change it in account settings.
Custom controls, captions, resume playback and background downloading. Optional NVIDIA AI enhancement for capable hosts.
No Jellyfin server to configure. Start on your computer, then connect the devices you love.
Download the Windows or Linux server bundle. Extract it and run Kerbin. Node, FFmpeg and hosting tools are included.
Open localhost:4105 on that computer. Add your TMDB v3 API key and create your Kerbin account.
Install a client and enter the host address. Device guides are always available from your account settings.
At home, use your host’s LAN address. Away from home, set up HTTPS with Cloudflare Tunnel, Tailscale or your own reverse proxy. Keep the host computer online.
Install the server first. Every client connects to your Kerbin host; it does not run a server of its own.
v0.1.1 · RELEASE BUILDExtract the Host bundle. On Windows, launch KERBIN.exe. On Linux, run chmod +x start-kerbin.sh, then ./start-kerbin.sh. Open http://localhost:4105 on the host computer, enter your TMDB v3 key and create an account.
The bundle includes device downloads. Account → Host setup & install on a device shows the LAN address and optional HTTPS setup. Allow Kerbin through your local firewall when connecting another device.
Run the Windows client EXE. On Linux, make the AppImage executable with chmod +x KERBIN-Client-Linux-x64.AppImage, then open it. If your distribution lacks AppImage/FUSE support, use the browser client.
Enter your Kerbin host’s LAN or HTTPS address. The host must be running. Windows builds are not publisher-signed; check the release checksum before launching.
Download the APK on your Android phone, tablet or TV. Enable “Install unknown apps” for the app opening the file, then install it. On a TV you can transfer it with USB or a file-transfer app.
Open Kerbin, enter your host address and sign in. Android TV uses the remote-friendly layout. The host PC must stay online.
The WGT is unsigned and needs a Samsung certificate bound to your TV. On the Windows host, open Start-KERBIN-TV-Installer.cmd. The installer guides you through TV connection, Samsung sign-in, certificate creation and installation.
On your TV, open Apps and enter 12345 using the remote to access developer mode. Set the host PC’s LAN IP and restart the TV. Connect the installer to the TV IP, complete Samsung sign-in, then sign and install. Menus vary by TV model.
The IPA requires your own Apple sideload signature. Re-sign it using your preferred sideload tool, install it, and enter an HTTPS Kerbin host address. Signing limits depend on the account and tool you use.
Prefer an easier route? Open your Kerbin HTTPS address in Safari, choose Share → Add to Home Screen, and launch it from the new icon. Apple TV is not included in this release.
AI enhancement is optional and off by default. It needs a compatible Windows NVIDIA host and the separate AI runtime. Install Python, then run tools/Install-AI.ps1 in the host bundle.
Kerbin recommends an RTX GPU with 8 GB+ VRAM for 1080p, and preferably RTX 4070 or faster with 12 GB+ for 4K. These are recommendations, not performance guarantees. Settings show your detected GPU; the runtime checks whether enhancement can keep up and can fall back to normal playback. For cloud streams, AI starts after the video has downloaded into the temporary local cache.
